Client Testimonials
The following are some unsolicited comments from our clients.

Our Center wanted to do a special outdoor activity for our Residents. We had heard good reports from friends in Harpers Ferry about Bob and his backwater cruise adventure. We called in August 2006, and booked a cruise for sixteen Residents and four staff members for September 14, 2006.

It was a beautiful day for this adventure. The tour was smooth, quiet and informative among the best scenery in the Midwest. Everyone on the tour was impressed with Bob's ability to handle the boat and his knowledge of the river and the backwater wildlife. We all learned something new about life on the river and its changing seasons. We will certainly plan another cruise this Summer of 2007.

I'd like to personally thank you for the excellent tours you provided to our school as part of our interdisciplinary studies of the Mississippi River. As a counselor and a former science teacher, I was interested in how our students would receive your tour. I believe they found you and your information interesting and engaging. You made the trip a clear success despite the challenging weather conditions for the tour I accompanied.

Your personal and family history on the Mississippi was of particular value in what you were able to teach us. Your familiarity with nature, history, culture, and politics made the tour exactly what we were looking for. Your ability to weave all these strands into a cohesive and informative whole could be emulated by many teachers. It is exemplary of interdisciplinary teaching and was perfect for this unit of study.

I hope for continued success for your business. You offer a vital facet to our community, ne that helps visitors and natives alike to know and understand our area. I have told the other teachers here that we should continue to use your service in the future.

Please feel free to share any or all of this letter with others as you see fit. For the record, you have not solicited this letter from me, and I was not personally involved in arranging our school trips with you.

What an enjoyable afternoon and a pleasant change for my young children and their grandparents. You have provided an entertaining learning environment that beats any theme park adventure. We all walked away with a great family memory and a better understanding of our natural environment!

Our resident really enjoyed going on the boat ride with Captain Robert Vavra. We took our first boat ride in the summer and after that experience, we were ready to go in fall! The scenery was so beautiful! They were able to view the eagles soaring above them as well as the blue herons making a catch on the river. They learned a little about commercial clamming and fishing as well. On one of the trips, we took in a picnic as we enjoyed sack lunches right on the boat.  As for Captain Robert Vavra, he was very attentive towards our residents as he gave us a history of the river. One of residents, Lester Olson, was named Co-Captain because he enjoyed standing along side of Robert as he did the navigating. Lester says, "I so enjoy the river and having been a duck hunter, I enjoyed Robert sharing stories with me about his duck hunting." Robert was so friendly and accommodating that we all look forward to taking another adventure out on the Maiden Voyage!
